I wanted to buy a house either to live in or as an investment back in 2004, but housing prices were ridiculously high during that time. I waited until 2008 to start hunting for a house. The housing market had crashed and prices had dropped to half of what they were in 2004. I spent at least six months with a couple of Realtors looking for a house, but had no luck. Either the houses were selling too high for their condition or I got out-bid by another buyer. My brother saw a house near my parents’ house that was owned by the bank so I thought, “Why not?”....

The Importance of Hiring a House Inspector
After purchasing my first house, I realized that it is very important to hire an inspector to inspect the house during the inspection period. My brother and I wanted to purchase a house by our parents’ house. We contacted the seller’s agent and we went to check out the house. It appeared that the previous owner had fixed up the house by himself because there were lots of power outlets inside the house. There were minor damages, but everything looked fine, so we put down an offer, which the seller accepted....
