Water
It is 90 degrees outside, and I have no WATER to drink. My throat is hurting, my body is so hot, and I feel like the sun is growing bigger every minute. I stand in front of the water bucket and feel so mad that I do not have any water to drink. “You stupid dog,” I growl as I stare at Tiger across the yard. I walk back and forth in front of the bucket. My skin burns as the sun shines on it. I want to drink some water to cool myself down, but I cannot. Why?

Bath Time
Mommy is chasing after me. “Kuma! Come!” she says. I refuse to stop. I am not stupid; I know what will happen if mommy catches me. I run around the yard, and accelerate as I hear mommy’s footsteps get closer to me. Unfortunately, my bad back leg gives up on me. I tumble a little and mommy grabs my tail and forces me to stop. She then holds my collar and pulls me toward the cement area. I back up, trying to shake the collar loose....

No More Brushing
No more. If grandma comes out with the brush tomorrow, I am going to run away from home and never come back. It is not my fault that I have thick fur. I was born that way. Besides, the inside layer of my fur is there to keep my warm from the cold winter. So what if I shed a little in the summer time? What is the big deal? I happen to think the backyard looks great with my fur ball floating over it.

Trap (Part I)
“Hey, dude, come over here and push me!” Tiger calls me as he is trying to dig his way to the neighbor’s yard. “What do you think you are doing? Grandpa and Grandma are not going to be happy about this,” I say as I get up from the grassy area and walk toward Tiger....

Anteater
They are crunchy, juicy and sweet. They can be found anywhere outside or inside the house. They form a big team and work together to support the colony. What am I talking about? I am talking about “ANTS”, and I am a “MYRMECOPHAGA TRIDACTYLE,” AKA Giant Anteater....

Kuma - The Akita Introudction (REVISE)
In Japanese, “Kuma” means bear. Mommy named me Kuma because I looked like a baby bear when I was a puppy. I used to have a dark brown coat, a white chest, and 4 white paws. As the years passed, my dark brown coat slowly turned into a beige color. I also think my appetite influenced mommy’s decision on my given name. I scared mommy when I first arrived at my new home. Mommy never understood why I was so hungry all the time. You see, I was not the alpha dog in my pack. Therefore, I was never full when it came to feeding time....

Water Monster
The water monster is chasing after me. I am lying on the grass as a string of cold water shoots through my fur right onto my skin. It startles me. I jump up from the grassy ground, run to my kennel and hide. “What just happened?” I ask myself. I scan the backyard and find the water monster. It is standing right in the middle of the backyard. It has an unattractive yellow head, and a snake like green body. I silently step out of my kennel, examine the water monster, and carefully and study its every move....

Daily Schedule
I don’t think mommy understands the daily schedule here. We go to sleep at 11:00 at night and wake up at 6:00 the next day. This is a set schedule. WE CANNOT CHANGE THAT! By 10:30 PM, mommy should get ready to go to sleep, not watches TV, talks on the phone or reads a book. Lately, however, that is exactly what mommy has been doing. Tonight is no different. It’s 11:55 PM and mommy is still watching TV! This is way passed my bed time. By now, I have eaten all kinds of different food in my dream. I am not Tiger.

Hunger
I am hungry. Ever since the vet told mommy that I am obese, mommy had putting me on this diet plan. This plan sucks. Instead of eating my delicious lamb and rice dog food, now I am on this stupid dog food for overweight dogs. It tastes nasty. On top of that, my food has been cut back a third. That is not fair at all. Why is it that Tiger gets to enjoy a full meal everyday while I have less? Tiger does not even like his food. All he cares about is his tennis ball. Yet every time I wait right beside Tiger’s bowl and try to eat the food he is unable to finish, he growls at me and tells me to go away. I am hungry....

Karma
“Why are we here again, Mommy? I do not like this place at all.” I look at mommy with angry eyes when I see the familiar white building again. “Why do we have to come to this place from time to time? Sure, it has all kinds of great treats and food inside. However, there are lots of different dogs and people in there too. Mommy, I do not like other dogs! I don’t like their smell or the way they look at me,” I sigh. “On top of that, every time you just drop Tiger and me off to some strangers and leave. I know they are nice to us. However, I don’t like to be at a strange place with some strange people when you are not around, Mommy......

There Is An Intruder In My House
There is an intruder in my house. I am looking at her from the outside of the sliding glass door. She is inside the house, sitting right next to my mommy, while I am outside lying on the cold cement. “How can she be inside of “my house”, when I am locked outside?”, I ask myself. On top of that, she even has the nerve to bark at me inside of my house, my own home. Is she nuts or out of her mind? I am so pissed off that I just smashed my nose right against the glass. It made a big “doon” sound that scared her so much that she backed away from the glass door.....
