   Field Trip Day

There is a pond; a pond in the middle of the yard full of green water. I stand up on two feet and put my front paws at the edge of it. I see my own reflection in the green water, and ripples appear. “Something is in the water,” I tell myself. I want to take a closer look, so I lean over the water. The surface of the water is disturbed by an object swimming beneath it. “Something is definitely in the water!” I tell myself again. I push myself with my back legs to get closer to the water...   Read more...

   Tennis Ball

I am hesitating. I am not sure whether I should pick up my beloved tennis ball or not. I mean I love my tennis ball. It I s the first thing I think of when I open my eyes in the morning. I carry it with me everywhere I go. It is right beside me when I am eating. It sleeps with me in my kennel. Even when I go to bathroom, I place it right in the grassy area where I can see it. But now, we have an issue a very big issue. I stare at the tennis ball, hearing mommy call my name, telling me to bring the ball back to her...   Read more...

   Assassin

I am an assassin that quietly hides in the corner, waiting for my victims. I bury myself in the bushes outside of the grassy area. I lie down to blend in with the bushes and wait patiently like a solider in a squad team. Ten minutes passed, target has not stepped into the yard. Kuma, my training partner, alertly lies in the grassy area, watching my every move. Another 10 minutes pass. Finally the target gently strolls out from the big tall tree and jumps on top of the fence.   Read more...

   Trap (Part II)

I am in the neighbor’s backyard AGAIN! Kuma is on the other side of the fence barking at me, telling me to jump back. I roll my eyes. Duh, what does he think I am doing right now, just hanging out in the neighbor’s backyard? His barking is disturbing and annoying. It breaks my concentrate as I look for a way to go back home. I AM DOING MY BEST TO FIND MY WAY HOME, but my mind is blank. All I can think of is: this is not my yard, not my home. I need to go back to mommy and grandma!!! However….I cannot find a way to jump back to my yard…   Read more...

   Racecar Driver

I dream to be a racecar driver one day. Ever since I was young, I have always liked cars. When I a puppy, mommy would let me stay in the front yard. I would lie there peacefully and watch all the cars that drove down the street. Sometimes, I would close my eyes and envision myself racing down the street in front of our house. I imagined the car speeding up to 80 MPH, with the windows open, my tongue hanging out from the side of my mouth, and the wind blowing through my fur....   Read more...

   Obedient Dog

I am a very obedient dog. I went to a puppy training class when I was 6 months old to learn how to become an obedient dog. In the class, we learned the “sit”, “down”, “stay”, “shake” and “leave it” commands. I was a very quick learner. I learned to sit after the second time mommy taught me the trick. It was just that I had to say “Hi” to my dog classmates by jumping on them after I sat down. I know, I know, I am a friendly dog....   Read more...

   Seizure

“Mommy!” I scream as I get up from Kuma’s side to run toward mommy. “There is something wrong with Kuma!” I tell her as I sit down and lean against her. Kuma’s eyes are totally spaced out. His pupils are dilated and unresponsive (P). It looks like he is possessed by a ghost. He moves his head back and forth from side to side. Saliva rips down from his mouth; so much that it looks someone spilled water on the hardwood floor...   Read more...

   Bad Field Trip Day

We are on a field trip to the real world. At this moment, instead of enjoying the adventure, we are panicking and running up and down the street. Why? Because we are lost, we are unable to find our way home. How can this be? How can two dogs be unable to find their house? This is just too crazy. Kuma and I run back and forth on the streets that I think we passed before and we are still unable to pick up any scents from our house. How did we get to this situation?   Read more...

   Treasure Hunt

I had discovered a secret passage to the neighbor’s backyard when I was playing with my beloved tennis ball with grandma in the early afternoon. I had pretended I did not see the crack when grandma asked what I was doing as I peeked into the neighbor’s backyard. I had waited until night time, until the lights were off and no one was making a noise in the house. I began my treasure hunt: hunting in the neighbor’s backyard......   Read more...

   Rainy Day

I am very upset today. I am upset, because it is raining again. I look at my tennis ball lying right beside me. I stare at it for almost 10 minutes while listening to the rain drops. The sound of the water drops irritated me and I begin to get mad at my tennis ball. I pick it up with my mouth and start to chew on it as hard as possible. “Stop looking at me!” I growl at the tennis ball. “I cannot help it. We cannot play today. Don’t you see it is raining?” I continue to snarl at the tennis ball.....   Read more...

   King of the Backyard

I am the king of my backyard. My job is to defend my kingdom from the trespassers. My first defense is to bark. I bark at the bikers who ride through our front yard. I bark at the dogs that smell our front lawn. I bark at the leaves that fall into our backyard and the squirrels that jump on the tree to make the leaves fall into our backyard. My second defense to guard my kingdom is to send my lazy knight, Kuma   Read more...

   The German Shepherd Introduction

I was born on May 24, 2003 with 6 other brothers and sisters. My biological mom told me that my dad was a handsome Rottweiler. If you ask me, I think I look more like a mix of golden retriever and German shepherd. I was picked up by my mommy and grandparents 8 weeks after I was born. When I first arrived at my new home I was placed in the hallway between the guest bedroom and the kitchen. Every day, I was tortured by the smell of food my grandma cooked.   Read more...
