Assassin
I
am an assassin that quietly hides in the corner, waiting for my victims
. I bury myself in the bushes outside of the
grassy area. I lie down to blend in with
the bushes and wait patiently like a solider in a squad team
. Ten minutes passed, target has not stepped
into the yard. Kuma, my training partner,
alertly lies in the grassy area, watching my every move. Another 10 minutes pass. Finally the target gently strolls out from
the big tall tree and jumps on top of the fence.
I
hop up, using all my solider training skills (sergeant grandma trains me every
day to run fast and jump tall by throwing the tennis ball), travel through the
grassy area like lightning
,
jump up and shove the fence. Kuma, my strong but no so speedy partner is
waiting on my left, waiting for the target to lose its balance and fall off the
fence. The target grabs onto the edge
of the fence and teases us by waving its gray, puffy tail
. “Come down here, you stupid squirrel!!” I bark.
The target ignores me and continues to run along the fence with its evil
chuckle.
My
temper rises. I forget all about my
training on patience. I bark like a mad dog
. I leap taller and push the fence harder. With a careless move, the target loses its
balance and fall off the fence. My handy partner, pounds the target with all
of his weight. The target shifts its
body to the right and Kuma’s paw missed it by an inch
. At the same time, I dive in from the opposite
direction. Just when the target thinks
it is going to get away, I slam my paws down and smash the target into the mud.
The
target squeals, that make the both of us more excited. We contain the target, now the prisoner,
between us, taking turns teasing it by pushing it with our paws. The prisoner tries to escape at the
beginning, however, after a few smacks it gradually gives up. After 5 minutes, the prisoner no longer makes
any movements
. I restrain it between my two front legs,
guarding the prisoner with all my concentration. When I hear sergeant grandma walk by the
kitchen window, I happily pick up the half unconscious prisoner in my mouth and
run toward the window
,
in an attempt to share our victory with her.
The sergeant screams in a shocked voice.
She commands me to drop the squirrel.
A good solider always follows his sergeant’s rules, so I drop the
squirrel without hesitation
.
Right
when I drop the prisoner to the ground, it comes alive
and runs toward the near
by tree before I can blink twice. I run
after the getaway prisoner, but it was too late. It successfully fools both of us by playing
dead and escapes from the penitentiary.
My partner in crime and I sadly go back to our old positions again,
waiting for the next target to step into the backyard so we can begin our
assassin plan again.
